Jan Sierksma will be the new trainer of Jong AZ. The 38-year-old Frisian will succeed Maarten Martens and has signed a contract until 2025. Sierksma has achieved success this season with the AZ Under 19, which won the Youth league.
Sierksma has been active in the youth academy of the Alkmaarders since 2020. “After three years as a trainer in the upper classes of the AZ Youth Academy, this is an ideal next step. In 2020, during the talks about my first contract, a plan was already drawn up for the steps I can take within AZ. Because I am now with Jong AZ in the get started in professional football, it will come out exactly as discussed.”
“With AZ Under 18 we won the national title and cup last year and this season with part of that group of players also the Youth League,” continues Sierksma. “At youth level we have won all the prizes together. Then it is great that I will now work with largely the same group of players in professional football. I will seize that opportunity with both hands and I am very much looking forward to it.”
