Middle stretcher Amos banned for three years because of doping

Botswana middle-distance runner Nijel Amos has been banned for three years for a doping offense.

As the independent integrity commission Aiu of the international athletics association World Athletics announced, the 29-year-old is no longer allowed to start until July 11, 2025.

The Olympic silver medalist over 800 meters from 2012 in London was tested outside of competition on June 4, 2022 in Rabat/Morocco.

Amos claimed that the positive test was due to taking a dietary supplement. However, the doping substance could not be detected in either the opened or the sealed bottle of the dietary supplement, the statement said.
