Prime Minister Rutte will visit Brazil from 8 to 10 May. The visit is all about the good cooperation between the Netherlands and Brazil. Led by VNO-NCW chairman Thijssen, a delegation of Dutch companies and knowledge institutes will travel along, specializing in innovation, energy transition, port development and logistics, among other things.

The visit starts Monday, May 8 in São Paulo. Here Prime Minister Rutte and the economic delegation are received by the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, for an introduction and talks about further cooperation. Subsequently, the Prime Minister will visit the knowledge institute Gétulio Vargas Foundation, where he will talk to students about topics such as international developments and climate.

In the afternoon, Prime Minister Rutte will visit aircraft manufacturer Embraer together with Dutch companies and knowledge institutes. Later that day, a visit to the University of São Paulo (USP) will follow in the context of talent development, followed by a visit to the joint climate innovation institute of USP and Shell. In the evening, the Prime Minister will be present at the presentation of the Inspire Awards, an initiative of Dutcham, the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Brazil.

On Tuesday 9 May, Prime Minister Rutte will be received by President Lula in Brasilia. During the meeting, they will discuss further strengthening bilateral relations, the international legal order, multilateral cooperation and the possibilities of easing and intensifying trade between the two countries. Cooperation on themes such as the energy transition, agriculture and food security, green port development, sustainability and the fight against deforestation will also be discussed. President Lula will then receive the Prime Minister and the economic delegation for a lunch to which the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President of the Senate, the President of the Supreme Court and Brazilian ministers will also be invited.

On Wednesday, May 10, Prime Minister Rutte will meet the governor of Ceará, Elmano de Freitas, in Fortaleza. Subsequently, the Prime Minister will visit the port of Pecém together with the Dutch economic delegation and will be introduced to the port authorities of Pecém and Rotterdam. Then there is a live connection with the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam, where short presentations are given by Dutch and Brazilian companies. The trip will conclude with an interactive business lunch with the governor of Ceará and Brazilian and Dutch companies and knowledge institutions.
