Ömer Erdoğan: “An important win. It was of course very important to win the first game I played here, together with my technical team and my players, at home, in front of our audience. Frankly, as a team that is very close to a troubled risky area in terms of points, they can score points from here. We were aiming to get out and finish the season comfortably as soon as possible. What I said to my players when I first came, anyway, is that the team’s inability to win for a long time caused a loss of self-confidence, unhappiness and stress on the players. They started not being able to do the things that could have been done before. Simple turnovers, simple mistakes. As I said, these are all due to the fact that unfortunately the players could not reach the point they aimed at at the beginning of the season, relying on their own talents, trusting their own abilities, and justly trusting, this situation has occurred. We, our team, especially this week ‘How can we get the match? How can we defend? How can we win at work?’ We put a lot of thought into it, but frankly, we did more of this both individually and as a team to increase the self-confidence of our players, to make them believe in themselves and trust each other. Because this team is a really high-quality team in an individual sense, but sometimes in football, the things you aim for at the beginning of the season do not come true. That’s why the three points we will get here today were very valuable for us in terms of seeing our way more clearly and more comfortably, in terms of gaining self-confidence again, and in terms of experiencing this happiness again after a long time. For that, I really thank my players from the bottom of my heart. I congratulate you very much. Their belief on the field and their will to win brought this victory. Yes, if you say you don’t know that you are satisfied in terms of football, frankly, I expected more. Because we have a group of players who can do more, but sometimes such wins are needed. As I said, the most important thing for us right now is our desire to win, and I am very happy that we succeeded in that as well.”
