After the signs at Mason Mount were recently saying goodbye to Chelsea, the attacking midfielder could possibly continue with the Blues beyond the summer. How “The Athletic” reported, the 24-year-old’s future is one of the most pressing squad issues at the struggling Premier League club, who are likely to be coached by Mauricio Pochettino in the 2023/24 season.
According to the portal, owner Todd Boehly took up the matter and sought direct contact with Mount last Friday. In this exchange, the 49-year-old American is said to have underpinned the importance of the home-grown player for the club and the intention to keep it. Mount’s reputation with the Londoners has by no means diminished, although he has already rejected some offers to extend beyond 2024.

The conversation between Boehly and Mount was seen as a positive signal within the club. Mount’s departure is no longer set in stone, staying at Stamford Bridge seems possible again. The England international is said to have one of the lowest-paying contracts at Chelsea to date, but signing a new deal would change that. The question remains: at which club?
At the end of March, the newspaper “The Times” reported that Bayern Munich’s new head coach Thomas Tuchel was showing interest in his ex-player from their times together at CFC. In fact, the Blues are reportedly reliant on player sales because they need to raise a larger sum to avoid problems with the Premier League’s financial fair play rules. At least 50 million pounds – the equivalent of around 57 million euros – were last mentioned as the price tag for Mount. Other applicants are Arsenal, Manchester United and, above all, Liverpool FC. Mount’s market value is €65m after the recent €10m devaluation.
