After the dismissal of coach Tomas Oral, second division soccer team SV Sandhausen also released the sports director Mikayil Kabaca. “This decision is very difficult for us, but there is no alternative due to the sporting development,” club president Jürgen Machmeier was quoted as saying in a statement on Wednesday.
On Monday, the bottom of the table in the second division parted ways with Oral after only around seven weeks, the assistant coaches Gerhard Kleppinger and Oscar Corrochano look after the team on an interim basis. Sporting responsibility is to be assumed by President Machmeier “for the time being”. Kabaca has been with SVS since the 2017/18 season.
“Unfortunately, the development of the sporting area has fallen well short of expectations,” said managing director Volker Piegsa: “That’s why we want to make a fresh start now, which will ensure a sporting realignment regardless of the league affiliation and lead us back on the road to success.”
