Charles Aranguiz is leaving Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen and moving to top Brazilian club Internacional Porto Alegre with immediate effect.
The 33-year-old’s contract would have expired in the summer. The Chilean international moved from Porto Alegre to Leverkusen in 2015.
“Charly has had a difficult time over the past six months due to his injury. It would not have been possible for him to get to his usual level in the final phase of the current season,” sporting director Simon Rolfes said in a statement: “We have therefore complied with his wish to return to South America two months earlier than planned in order to systematically build up his new club on site.”
