Hertha trainer Tayfun Korkut warned his team after the defeat at bottom Greuther Fürth to realize the serious situation in the Bundesliga.
“We have to accept the situation first. That’s what matters. We mustn’t think the points will come flying to us,” said Korkut after the game 1:2 on Saturday. “We have to talk about this game again with a lot of clarity,” he announced.
With 23 points, the Berliners, still without a win in the new year, are in 14th place in the table in the middle of a relegation battle.
Korkut was particularly annoyed by the false start with the first goal conceded only 26 seconds after the kick-off. “For us, the beginning was already a déjà vu. We’re falling behind early on and have to keep chasing. We’re not at all satisfied,” said the coach, who is convinced that his experience will lead the team out of the critical situation.
