Henk Krol believes that the time has come for Matthijs van Nieuwkerk to give a TV interview about the abuses at De Wereld Draait Door. “Now would be a good time.”
While Tom Egbers recently sat almost immediately at the table with Khalid & Sophie to talk about the accusations against him, Matthijs van Nieuwkerk has been hiding out of sight of the camera for months now. The presenter seems to be waiting for the results of the investigation into the abuses at De Wereld Draait Door.
Good time
All those investigations take an incredibly long time. Does Matthijs have to wait that long, or is it time for him to give an interview? The Story asks his panel of celebrities this week.
Henk Krol is one of those prominent figures. The former politician thinks that Matthijs should make himself heard. According to him, it has been a very long time since we have seen the presenter. “Yes. When you’re such a public figure, don’t shy away from the cameras. It doesn’t have to be right away, but now would be a good time.”
Never duck
According to Bobbi Eden, actress in naughty action films, that is not a good idea at all. She thinks that Matthijs has little to gain from such a television interview. “No. You can hardly do it right. While it may be nice to tell his side of the story, it seems unwise to me.”
TV cleaner Rob Geus agrees. “You better sit on the blisters for a while. At the moment he can’t do anything right.”
‘It doesn’t rhyme’
It may be a way out for Matthijs to blame psychological complaints during a TV interview. “I was thinking about the story that Matthijs does not dare to drive on highways, so there are at least traits that he is at least a little bit of a patient,” said Rob Goossens recently in De BLVD Podcast.
He continued: “Maybe his behavior in the workplace is part of that as well.”
Beyond question
According to colleague Luuk Ikink, people who write Matthijs off as a disturbed person are wrong. “The kind of René van der Gijp who says: ‘That’s crazy’, of course that’s not the case. Of course he can also have done wrong and right things.”
Luuk hopes that we will eventually see Matthijs again on television. “It is also just a very good presenter. That is beyond dispute.”
