What would “Big Bang Theory” be without super nerd Sheldon Cooper? In 279 episodes he annoyed his friends with his know-it-all attitude and neurotic attacks – and yet he was an indispensable and brilliant part of the team. No question, behind the character is Jim Parsons, a no less brilliant actor who mimed the physicist as a jittery, skittish oaf.
Parsons was born on March 24, 1973 in Houston, Texas – and is now 50 years old. He thus shares the origin with his eccentric character, whose youth history is presented in the comedy series “Young Sheldon”. He’s not a natural scientist, but the actor has a bachelor’s degree in theater from the University of Houston and a master’s degree in acting from the University of San Diego.
Before he became a star with The Big Bang Theory, he had acted in several theater productions and television series. But only the sitcom brought great fame, very high fees and brought in four Emmy awards and a Golden Globe. The actor, who also frequently works as a voice actor, is privately
dating his longtime partner Todd Spiewak. Both married in 2015. If you ask Parsons what his favorite production is, there is often only one answer: “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”.
