FC Bayern surprisingly parted ways with Julian Nagelsmann after less than two years. However, the 35-year-old should not remain on the market for long. Ex-professional Stan Collymore is now even speculating about a possible advance from Newcastle United from the Premier League.
“The owners of the Magpies should at least put out feelers and ask Nagelsmann if he would like to take the helm,” the 52-year-old told the portal “CaughtOffside”.
Newcastle United are actually having a convincing season in the Premier League. The north English are currently in fifth place in the table and therefore still have every chance of qualifying for the Champions League. Head coach Eddie Howe should actually be firmly in the saddle with the Magpies.
“You don’t even have to tell Howe you’re with him [Nagelsmann] “They’re going to improve that way, because with Howe at the helm, they’re not going to get to the promised land.”
Julian Nagelsmann flies at FC Bayern
Whether Newcastle United will ultimately really think about Nagelsmann is still in the stars. The 35-year-old was actually still tied to FC Bayern for a long time. But on Friday, the German record champions officially announced the separation.
“It was the most difficult decision in my time as a sporting manager at FC Bayern. I had an open, trusting, friendly relationship with Julian from day one. I regret the separation from Julian,” said Munich’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic in the club’s announcement quoted.
FC Bayern immediately found a successor in Thomas Tuchel. The 49-year-old has a working paper on Säbener Straße until the summer of 2025.
