Olympia: No medals for German biathletes in the sprint

Zhangjiakou (dpa) – The German biathlon men must continue to wait for a medal at the Winter Olympics in China. In the sprint, Benedikt Doll was again the best German starter with eighth place.

The ex-world champion was 1:05.0 minutes behind Olympic champion Johannes Thingnes Bö from Norway after a shooting error. In the individual, Doll had previously ranked sixth in Zhangjiakou.

Bö won after ten kilometers in 24:00.4 minutes, silver was secured by individual Olympic champion Quentin Fillon Maillet from France, 25.5 seconds behind. Bronze went to Bo’s brother Tarjei, 38.9 seconds back. Roman Rees was 1:23.9 back despite shooting clean. Johannes Kühn and Philipp Nawrath didn’t come close to the top ranks either. The top 60 qualify for this Sunday’s pursuit race.
