Maarten van der Weijden has come up with a new war of attrition for charity after his Eleven Cities Swimming Tour. Tiresome, says Johan Derksen. “This is starting to get annoying.”
Swimming champion Maarten van der Weijden is regularly committed to the fight against cancer. He was on Tuesday in Beau van Erven Dorens’ talk show to talk about the new war of attrition he has devised to raise money. His wife Daisy sat at the table with him to tell her what she thinks of it all.

The men from Today Inside have also looked, but think that Maarten is now starting to become a bit of a vain. “I get very tired of that boy,” says Johan Derksen.
Colleague René van der Gijp laughs: “Do you think that if he is sitting at such a table with such a woman, he will mind that it is about him? No not at all! He enjoys that!”
Johan: “Everything he does, he does for publicity and attention. Then it’s swimming again and what is he going to do now?”

René: “He will now swim 100 kilometers, run 100 kilometers and cycle 100 kilometers.”
Wilfred: “Yes, but that guy won an Olympic medal after a very serious illness. Isn’t it amazing what that guy did? You now find him a show-off.”
Johan: “I find it annoying. I think it’s becoming a bit of a nasty man.”
To hold up
Wilfred: “He should just stop?”
Johan: “He should just stop, yes. It’s a kind of self-aggrandizement.”
Wilfred: “But you also sit here every evening at that table, don’t you? There are also enough people who think: there you have it again?”
Johan: “Because I have relevant information every evening!”

René: “Look how he sits! It was about him for a while. Nice man, nice dude.”
Raymond Mens: “I think he really likes that, yes.”
Johan: “Can’t such a woman say: ‘Maarten, well, not for a year.’”
René: “No, that woman also goes along with it.”
Johan: “Yes, he will follow in a boat.”
