Bought around 20% of the shares
Ex-national player Thomas Hitzlsperger joins the Danish football club Aalborg BK with his company “Sports Strategy Excellence 22”. The company, which Hitzlsperger manages together with former HSV board member Joachim Hilke and Werder-Bremen consultant Bernhard Peters, bought around 20 percent of the shares in the club for the equivalent of around 2 million euros, Aalborg BK said on Thursday.
“We are thrilled and honored to become a part of AaB, one of Denmark’s most prominent football clubs with a proud history,” said former Stuttgart CEO Hitzlsperger, according to the statement. “Together we want to work hard to achieve success for AaB and the club’s loyal fans again.” Four-time Danish champions, Aalborg are the team with the fifth-highest squad value – €14.7m – but are currently fighting against relegation from the first Danish league, the Superligaen.
