Two sheds are currently on fire on Kerkweg in Erica. According to the Drenthe Safety Region, asbestos was released during that fire.
The fire broke out around 5:30 p.m. in one of the sheds. The flames soon spread to an adjacent barn. Black clouds of smoke are released from the fire.
The fire is not under control at this time. The fire service is mainly working to protect the surrounding houses. There were asbestos sheets on the sheds. The fire released asbestos particles, but according to the spokesman for the Security Region, it is not yet known how far they have spread. Research is being done in the area.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. No one was injured.
