17 seats, 33 percent of the vote. The BoerBurgerBeweging has harvested well in Drenthe. From scratch it is by far the largest party in the Drenthe Provincial Council. However, it has just not become the largest new party ever in Drenthe.
The largest new party of all time in the Provincial Council of Drenthe is the PvdA in 1946. In that year, the party was founded as a merger of the SDAP (Social Democratic Workers Party), VDP (Free-thinking Democratic Union) and CDU (Christian Democratic Democratic Union). In 1946 the PvdA received 37.13 percent of the vote, making it the largest party in Drenthe. That was then good for 13 seats.
In 1946 the Drenthe parliament consisted of 35 seats. Now there are 43.
In 1970, the Progressive Agreement took 37.89 percent of the vote out of nowhere and became the largest party. However, that year Progressive Agreement was a merger of PvdA, PPR and PSP.
Four years later, the three parties continued individually.
