Lady Gaga will not appear at this year’s Oscars. Oscar show producer Glenn Weiss confirmed this last Sunday (March 5) in a zoom call. He explained that Lady Gaga was too busy filming Joker: Folie à Deux to perform at the awards ceremony.
Gaga is nominated for Best Song this year for her song “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick. She has performed on the Oscar stage three times: in 2015 she performed a medley of four The Sound of Music songs celebrating the work’s 50th anniversary, and in 2016 she sang her nominated song ‘Til It Happens to You’ from the movie The Hunting Ground. She made a third appearance with Bradley Cooper in 2019 with the track “Shallow” from A Star Is Born, which won her first song Oscar.
Instead of Gaga, Rihanna will be on stage at this year’s Oscars with her song “Lift Me Up” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. Sofia Carson will also sing “Applause” from the movie “Tell It Like a Woman” with Diane Warren.
