For International Women’s Day, which is celebrated as a public holiday in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Herbert Grönemeyer has re-recorded his hit “Men” to show the women of this world the appreciation they deserve.
Herbert Grönemeyer sings about “women”
The musician has made a recording of the rewritten song available to the RBB 88.8 radio station of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB). It was played there exclusively on Wednesday morning. The musical greeting now says: “Women make us strong, women are like a tailwind. Women laugh out loud, women give you a child.” The chorus continues: “It’s difficult, take it easy, but instead of “hard on the outside and very soft on the inside”, women “have already achieved a lot on their own”. Herbert Grönemeyer also commented on the Gender Pay Gap in his Women’s Day version. “Women like to buy, women get too little wages”.
The text was written by an RBB employee and reads as follows:
The hymn to women you can here hear.
