Spectacular jewelery robbery in Knokke-Heist
Threatened with firearm in Bruges
The shop lady of jewelery store Baunat, in the Kustlaan in Het Zoute near Knokke-Heist, was the target of two burglars last Thursday. At her home in Bruges, the woman was threatened with a firearm by the two. The two wanted to get the codes to enter the Baunat jewelry store.
Burglary in Het Zoute
The woman was tied up at her home, after which the two burglars went to Knokke-Heist in the woman’s car. When we got there, the alarm went off anyway. In the meantime, the woman had been able to free herself at home and alert the police.
Police fire at burglars and chase them
When the police arrived on the scene, the burglars fled. The police fired at the car. No one was injured. The police then gave chase. The burglars got stuck. One of them was caught by the police, the other is still a fugitive.
The public prosecutor of West Flanders is investigating the case, but does not comment on the facts. The loot from the robbery has been recovered.
