fto train operators able to stand by, listen to and support women and children who are victims of violence: this is the objective of the course Violence against women and minors: understanding and combating the phenomenon, organized by the ADV-Project research center ( Against Domestic Violence) of the University of Milan Bicocca directed by Professor Marina Calloni. There are 30 places available, to participate you must have at least a three-year degree e Sign up by March 3rd. Lessons will start on April 14th and finish at the end of September.

On 3 March, enrollments for the specialization course at the Milano Bicocca University “Violence against women and minors: understanding and combating the phenomenon” will close.

That it is a necessary course is also demonstrated by the data: based on those of the Lombardy Regional Anti-Violence Observatory, in 2021 more than 4000 women turned to anti-violence centersand among them 2100 were taken care of, with an increase of 13.3% compared to 2020. In half of the cases, minors were present.

In this fourth edition, the course will have, in addition to the theoretical part, a more substantial practical part: «We will take the students to the anti-violence centres, from Cadmi to the Ri-nascita farmhouse, in those for abusers, in women’s prisons such as that of Bollate», says Professor Calloni, professor of political and social philosophy. «We will listen to the lessons of lawyers, psychotherapists, university professors. We will deal with public policies, territorial networks, the role of social workers. Our approach is holistic, that is, we have a broad, interdisciplinary gaze. We want to train professionals, collect requests from below and push the institutions to implement them».

Milano Bicocca: a pole against gender-based violence

With this course ADV-Project and the University of Milan Bicocca are confirmed as a single multi-level training hub to combat gender-based violence. In addition to this specialization course, in fact, there is also a curricular and interdepartmental course to train social workers against gender-based violence, while the SFERA programme, commissioned by the Lombardy Region, dedicated to police forces, the local police, social workers. “Now Valle d’Aosta has also asked us,” says Calloni. ADV also collaborates with the UNIRE network made up of universities and research centres. An all-round commitment in favor of women and children.
