GS: Two tons for demolition of old fire station at Eelde airport

The Provincial Executive wants to make 200,000 euros available to demolish an old fire station on the forecourt of Groningen Airport Eelde. In addition, this money must also be used to clean up asbestos and soil pollution.

Deputy Henk Brink: “With this subsidy we contribute to the demolition of the fire station, so that a hangar with an office function can be built and the design of the public space fits well with the environment. This contributes to the appearance of the airport. “

With the refurbishment of the forecourt, the airport should better match its surroundings in terms of appearance. The development of the forecourt is part of a larger plan for the airfield. Groningen Airport Eelde wants to be a sustainable airport by 2030, with electric flying and hydrogen as spearheads. The plans also include space for a new business park near the old runway, a cargo area, solar carport and hydrogen filling station.
