The province of West Flanders provides 50,000 euros in support for emergency aid to Turkey and Syria

The financial support is distributed among the organizations ADRA Belgium, Consortium 12-12 and Oxfam Solidarity vzw.

Initially, 20,000 euros will be provided for the organization ADRA Belgium. They will set up collective shelters in Aleppo in Syria for a total of 800 people. Here food distribution will take place immediately along with the distribution of necessary non-food items such as blankets and clothing.

In addition, 20,000 euros in support will also be given to Oxfam Solidarity vzw. Even before the start of Consortium 12-12, they contacted the Province via the Wereldhuis with the request to help provide food and economic security in the Turkish regions of Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaras and Sanliurfa. Food, cooking equipment, blankets and clothing will be provided quickly to provide first aid. Work will also be carried out on the water supply and repairs will be carried out to the water network.

Finally, another 10,000 euros will be provided as support through the Consortium 12-12.
