A driver of a company van is at Beekbergen on Wednesday evening after a piece off road having driven into a berm on a tree stump came to a stop. By the time emergency services got to the van, the driver had already taken off.
For unknown reasons, the man hit the roadside with his vehicle on the Stoppelbergweg and ended up on a tree stump via the road on the other side. He tried to get away with the van, but in vain. The axle between the front wheels of the vehicle was broken in half and the commercial vehicle was stuck.
The driver then fled on foot. It is not known if he was injured in the crash. The driver may have been under the influence. The van was registered in the name of the current owner for less than a month. It is unclear whether he was also behind the wheel. The vehicle had to be towed by a salvage company.
