Laura Nolte is back: she put her stamp on the two-man bobsleigh World Cup in Innsbruck. A week after her fall at the World Championships in St. Moritz, she showed a perfect run this time. A second German sled with Kim Kalicki came in second. The World Cup decision in four-man bobsleigh will also be made today.

Two-man bobsleigh Olympic champion Laura Nolte has come back impressively one day after her disappointing fifth place in monobob. In the two-man bobsleigh, the 24-year-old won the World Cup in Innsbruck on Sunday (February 12, 2023).

German double victory thanks to Kalicki/Fiebig

With brakewoman Neele Schuten, she raced with a track record in the second run to her tenth World Cup victory. After the first run she was still fourth, but showed a perfect run in the final. World champion Kim Kalicki with brakewoman Leonie Fiebig ensured a German double success. The two had to admit defeat by a hundredth of a second and finished second. Melanie Hasler from Switzerland came in third (+ 0.06 seconds). The American Kaillie Humphries, who was leading after the first run, miscalculated completely in the final and dropped back to fourth place.

Buckwitz/Herrmann Fifth

The third German sled with Lisa Buckwitz and World Cup debutant Marijana Herrmann came in fifth (+ 0.33 seconds). On Saturday (February 11, 2023) Buckwitz was able to celebrate the first World Cup victory of her career in monobob.

Nolte takes the lead in the overall World Cup

With her win, Nolte, who said on Saturday that she felt “pretty muddy. Now it’s a matter of persevering somehow“, also the lead in the overall World Cup. The previous leader Kim Kalicki is only a few points behind Nolte, the decision will be made next week at the final World Cup in Sigulda, Latvia.

Four-man bob: Friedrich wants overall World Cup

The decision in the men’s four-man bobsleigh will also be made on Sunday: the newly crowned world champion from St. Moritz and record Olympic champion Fancesco Friedrich took over the lead from his British competitor Bradley Hall on Saturday (February 11, 2023) and is leading before the final last Run with a 15 point lead over the competition.
