A 44-year-old woman from Coevorden was arrested last night after a wild chase through Emmen. She fled when the police wanted to check her for drug possession.
Just after midnight, the police responded to a report of a possible drug deal at the Wilhelminastraat in Emmen. The woman from Coevorden was there in her car. She was checked by officers and the moment they asked her to hand in her drugs, she took off at full throttle.
According to the police, a chase ensued in which the Coevordense caused many dangerous situations. For example, she drove through the center at at least 135 kilometers per hour, drove on a cycle path and ran a red light. On the N34, the police decided to discontinue the chase and light and sound signals were turned off. However, the woman was still being followed from a distance.
In Coevorden, agents managed to trap the suspected motorist with two cars. That happened on The Printer. No drugs were found in her car. The police suspect that the woman threw it out of the car somewhere. The woman was arrested and her driver’s license was confiscated. Because the police suspect that the Coevordense was under the influence, blood was taken from her.
