NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – US government bonds extended their early losses in trading on Tuesday. The futures contract for ten-year Treasuries (T-Note future) fell by 0.27 percent to 126.56 points. In contrast, the yield on ten-year government bonds rose to 1.96 percent. It is now at the level of July 2019.
The continued rise in yields is supported by the prospect of tighter monetary policy in the USA to combat high inflation. Only last Friday did strong US labor market data increase the pressure on the central bank to raise interest rates./ck/he
