53 goals, 52 assists: Germany’s playmaker Juri Knorr won the scorer rating at the Handball World Cup.

With 105 points in nine games, the 22-year-old middleman of the Rhein-Neckar Löwen recorded three points more than the Berlin professional Mathias Gidsel from the old and new world champion Denmark. The 23-year-old Gidsel was named the World Cup’s top scorer with 60 goals.

During the course of the tournament, Knorr was the pivotal point in the German game. The youngster played his third tournament for the German handball team, for the first time he was primarily responsible for the playmaker position. With the selection of the German Handball Federation (DHB), Knorr had secured fifth place on Sunday by beating Norway 28:24.
