Fareen Abdullah becomes Chief People & Culture Officer

Clothing retailer C&A Europe is strengthening its human resources department. Fareen Abdullah will take over as chief people and culture officer on February 1, the company announced on Monday. In her new role, she will “further improve the operational HR standards and drive the ongoing change process within the organization, including the new, consistently personnel-oriented strategy”.

The personnel expert comes from the sporting goods group Adidas AG, where she most recently worked as Vice President, HR, in the Latin America region. Giny Boer, CEO of C&A Europe, explained the appointment: “Fareen Abdullah is a proven international HR leader with extensive experience in Europe, Asia and Latin America,” she said in a press release. “She has in-depth knowledge of the retail business and has also led a multinational company as General Manager.”

The retailer also presented a new addition to the board of directors of the umbrella company C&A AG: Nigyar Makhmudova is a member of the board as a non-executive director with immediate effect. Makhmudova has held numerous senior positions in the food industry throughout her career. According to C&A, she was last employed as Vice President and Chief Growth Officer at the French group Danone SA.
