It was an eventful first stage of the Dakar Rally. Vick Versteijnen’s bike broke down just before the finish and Janus van Kasteren got a flat tire while leading. Erik van Loon seemed to recover from his crash the day before, but made a navigation error. There was success for Team Van de Laar. They achieved the best final classification ever.
