Series champions Red Bull Salzburg are facing the commitment of several players: In addition to the well-known defender Jérôme Onguéné (see article from 13:24), national goalkeeper Alexander Schlager and the Icelandic midfield talent Hákon Arnar Haraldsson could also move to the city of Mozart.
The 26-year-old Schlager announced on Wednesday that he was leaving LASK for the summer of 2023. After his contract ended in June, he was available on a free transfer and could officially negotiate with interested clubs from January. The seven-time ÖFB team player was trained in Salzburg and Leipzig and has now played 152 Bundesliga games for Grödig and LASK.
A commitment from Schlager would probably indicate a departure from Philipp Köhn or Nico Mantl. Switzerland’s World Cup contender Köhn has been linked with clubs from his native Germany on several occasions, while Germany U21 keeper Mantl has been unhappy with his role as substitute goalie and could also seek a new challenge.
With Haraldsson, Red Bull could loudly “courier“ steer another top talent to Austria. The 19-year-old Icelander is seeded with the reigning Danish champions Copenhagen and was also able to prove his skills in the Champions League this season. Haraldsson can be deployed flexibly and, in addition to his regular position in central midfield, has also been used as a solo striker or winger this season. In Salzburg he could be used both in the diamond and in the double attack.
