Christmas Eve and rice porridge are inseparable.

It depends on the family at what point on Christmas Eve porridge is eaten. Is it right in the early morning twilight or only at the time of the declaration of Christmas peace at 12 o’clock.
Sweet fruit kiiseli, mixed fruit soup, or mixed fruit soup, is served with the porridge. Although sometimes porridge is only eaten with cinnamon and sugar, kiisseli is an inseparable part of the Christmas table.
If the kiisseli is not eaten for breakfast, it also tastes great as a dessert for the Christmas meal.

Rice porridge
(4 servings)
2 dl of water
2 dl of porridge
1 l milk (whole milk)
½ tsp salt
approx. 50 g of butter
1. Prepare the porridge by measuring the water in the pot. Heat the water to boiling and add the rice. Stir until the liquid is absorbed into the rice.
2. Add milk and butter and cook on low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 45-50 minutes. Season the finished porridge with salt.
Mixed fruit soup
250 g of dried mixed fruit
1 liter of water
cinnamon stick
½ dl sugar
1 dl of water
2.5 tablespoons of potato flour
1. Put water, fruit, sugar and cinnamon stick in a pot. Cook for 10 min.
2. Mix potato flour with a small amount of water. Add the mixture to the pot in a thin strip while stirring. Let it bubble.
3. Serve with rice porridge for breakfast or lunch or with whipped cream as a dessert.
