Waylon proposes that the whole of the Netherlands will support the Moroccan national team now that they have reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the first time. “Let’s celebrate together!”
Where the Dutch national team flew out in the eighth finals, Morocco did manage to reach the quarter finals of the World Cup. Because of the many Moroccan Dutch, there is a lot of attention in our country for that enormous success. Waylon is now calling for all Dutch people to support the Moroccan team.

It’s nice and fraternizing if everyone supports Morocco, says Waylon. “Just an idea: why don’t we stand behind Morocco with the whole country? This is a unique and special moment for all Moroccans. Let’s celebrate this together! That would really be ‘multiculti’.”
Waylon also refers to Geert Wilders in his Instagram call. “Wilders is going crazy with happiness,” he puts in a hashtag. The leader of the PVV congratulated the Moroccan team in a tweet, but expressed strong criticism of the riots that keep breaking out after Morocco’s victories.
Criticism and support
It is striking how many emotions Waylon’s call evokes. Many people are really furious about it, while other people think it’s a great initiative. “Well indeed, good plan, let’s encourage them to demolish the whole place after every win. Disgusting behavior ?”, says Tessa, for example.
Another lady thinks this is mean of Tessa. She says: “Apparently the only thing you see, but if Ajax wins and destroys Bijlmer or Feyenoord wins and destroys Rotterdam, then you are not talking funny. There are bad apples in every nation. Don’t get it twisted.”
Stupid comment
Many of Waylon’s followers are quite pissed off. For example, Trudy says: “Did you see the mess again tonight? Stupid comment. These people ruin it themselves.”
Anniek: “I think there are enough English and French people living in this country, but they don’t break the mess and you don’t hear them! Shall we support them?”
And Sabrina: “Well, that ‘just an idea’ of yours, you can do it alone. The Netherlands won and lost, quietly in the Netherlands. Morocco wins, super fun for them, really! But constant riots and aid workers being attacked and then you want us to celebrate together? No way!”
