There is talk that the talks between Bensebaini’s advisors from “HCM Sports Management” and BVB are very advanced. The full-back is said to have recently informed Gladbach that he would not renew his contract and would leave Borussia after four years. Only recently “Sport Bild” reported that Bensebaini had not yet made a decision regarding his sporting future. As early as October, the “Ruhr Nachrichten” reported that BVB had made a fresh attempt at the full-back after efforts in the last summer transfer period were unsuccessful.

For Bensebaini, a move would be the third permanent move in his career and the first without a fee. In 2019 he came to the Lower Rhine from FC Stade Rennes from France for €8m and has since played 99 games for Borussia, in which he contributed 24 goals and seven assists. Should Bensebaini sign with BVB, he would be the fourth player since 2012 to move from Gladbach to Dortmund. Two professionals went the opposite way in the same period.

If Gladbach’s Bensebaini comes, Guerreiro will probably leave BVB

With a signing of Bensebaini, the restructuring of Dortmund’s left-back would start rolling. It has been a topic for a long time that the club wants to reposition itself in this position. With Guerreiro, Nico Schulz (29) and talent Tom Rothe (18) there are currently three regular left-backs in the squad, but Guerreiro and Schulz should not have a future at BVB. If, according to “Sport Bild”, Schulz should leave the club despite a contract that is valid until 2024, according to Guerreiro “Sky”, no offer will be made for an extension of his working paper, which expires at the end of the season. The reason given for this decision is the injury susceptibility of the Portuguese, who came to BVB from FC Lorient in 2016 for 12 million euros.
