The Pogues singer Shane MacGowan has been taken to the hospital, his wife Victoria May Clarke wrote on Twitter.
Underneath her husband’s photo, she said, “Please send prayers and healing forces to Shane MacGowan in hospital. Hopefully he’ll come out as soon as possible.” Fans expressed their solidarity under the tweet and wished him all the best and a speedy recovery.

Clarke told the Irish Mirror that being in hospital was frustrating for MacGowan. She hopes he can be released this week. She did not explain why the 64-year-old was admitted on Friday. As recently as last week, he appeared to be in good shape as he debuted on TikTok to the delight of his fans.

The past few years have been marked by hospital stays for MacGowan again and again. In 2015 he broke his hip while performing. Since then he has been in a wheelchair. Last year he broke his knee. He has not yet fully recovered from the injury.
