Is Maignan worth Handanovic? For FIFA now yes

Mike Maignan he was among the absolute protagonists of the Milan derby and even FIFA 22, albeit with a little delay, recognizes his characteristics as number 1. Thanks to not having yet landed on a stage worthy of his qualities, the Frenchman has been seen from the football videogame with a certain diffidence, although starting immediately from a sumptuous evaluation. Over the course of the season, having overcome the injury that had given Tatarusanu the gloves as a starter, he was able to climb the hierarchy, until he reached the great rival in the derby – the Slovenian Handanovic – with whom he now shares the overall rating.

Maignan on FIFA –

As mentioned, Maignan arrived from Lille already presenting himself with a very important overall of 84, in a game where, to give an idea, already around 80 you are a good player. The Frenchman had arrived in Serie A and immediately placed himself in the top 18 of the best goalkeepers in the game, precisely in sixteenth position – an Olympus in which only three members of our league reside, namely him, Handanovic and Szczesny (for the first Italian in the standings, ask Donnarumma). Reflexes 88, return 85, dive and placement 84, reactivity 83 and grip 82 are not everyday features in the goalkeepers’ datasheets. But, within a few months, there has already been an important qualitative leap …

The challenge with Handanovic –

In the very latest FIFA update, Maignan has in fact gained a point both in the overall and in the potential, obtaining a rating of 85 and a future growth of even 90 (he would be second only to Oblak in the world, currently at 91). Curiously, this growth is matched by a decline in his direct challenger to the title of best goalkeeper in Milan: Handanovic started from 86 but, thanks to the age that always affects the evaluations of the players during the same seasons (in addition to the performance of a goalkeeper who often no longer convinces as in the past), he is now “satisfied” with a still excellent 85. This it means that, now yes, Maignan is worth Handanovic, and that the way for the former Lille to become number 1 under the Madonnina in the near future is really open.
