The Pittsburgh Penguins say on their Twitter account that the defenseman Kris Letang has had a stroke on Monday.

The message says that Letang, who has been sidelined for the time being, is no longer suffering from the symptoms of an illness. However, the Canadian player will be examined by doctors for the next week.

Letang, 35, suffers from a congenital heart defect that previously caused the man to have a heart attack and forced him off the rink.

Letang has played his entire NHL career in Pittsburgh and won three Stanley Cups with the club (2009, 2016 and 2017).

Kris Letang has played 21 games for the Penguins this season. PDO
