Justice Senator Kreck not yet determined when it comes to compulsory corona vaccination

Berlin’s Senator for Justice Lena Kreck does not yet have a final position in the discussion about general corona vaccination.

“A high level of vaccination protection has a massive impact on the extent to which people are hospitalized or come to intensive care units,” said the left-wing politician in an interview with the “Tagesspiegel” (Saturday).

“As things stand now, I would not speak out against compulsory vaccination. What we know about the new virus variant is currently still changing a lot. Against this background, it is also difficult for me to explicitly speak out in favor of a general obligation to vaccinate. But I’m not against it on fundamental grounds.”

Kreck referred to the decision of the Federal Constitutional Court on measles vaccination, in which she sees starting points for general vaccination in the corona pandemic. “Different legal interests come into conflict with each other – the individual integrity of the body and the great good of public health,” she explained.

At the federal level, it is currently planned that motions for and against a general obligation to vaccinate will be introduced and discussed in the Bundestag without the pressure of a parliamentary group. What will be decided at the end and when is open.
