Live ticker Syntainics MBC – FC Bayern Munich 69:82 (BBL 2022/2023, 7th matchday)

19:44

Conclusion:
FC Bayern wins befitting and well-deserved with 82:69 at the MBC and celebrates the sixth win in the seventh BBL game. The guests laid the foundation with an extremely strong second quarter, which went to the FCBB 27:9. Weißenfels was able to hold back well in the first and third quarters and had a few strong phases, but whenever Bayern tightened up defensively, the Wolves didn’t do much. With 14 points each, Kostja Mushidi and Martin Breunig struggled the most against defeat. In Munich, top scorer Augustine Rubit surpassed with 23 points, and newcomer Niels Giffey impressed with 15 points on his BBL debut. Central German BC now has a week’s break before they continue at home against medi Bayreuth. Bayern, on the other hand, will soon be heading to France, where they will face Lyon-Villeurbanne and then Monaco in the EuroLeague next week. Goodbye from Weißenfels and have a nice evening!

19:39

The Bavarians also want to help Luis Wulff to get his first BBL points, but so far they have not been able to get the youngster in position. Giffey added the next three at his BBL debut in FCB dress.

39

19:37

Against the second guard of the guests, the MBC now often comes to an end and scores consistently again. Mário Ihring puts it through to Kris Clyburn, who does a bit of result cosmetics again.

37

19:33

Andrea Trinchieri has already started to control the load. This is how Ivan Kharchenkov gets his first points in the BBL.

36

19:32

Incidentally, the next bad news in terms of personnel seems to be indicated at Bayern. Isaac Bonga had crashed into John Bryant earlier and twisted his foot. Since then, the Munich all-rounder has been sitting behind the bench and will no longer play today.

35

19:31

Experienced Tremmell Darden tanks up with luck and skill against Freddie Gillespie and scores again for the MBC, but Andi Obst immediately calms things down with the next three.

34

19:28

The home side are simply leaving too much behind to really put Bayern under pressure. Breunig doesn’t even hit the ring when he graduates from the zone.

33

19:25

Somehow Bayern keep the lead in an area where nobody really needs to worry. The individual quality in attack is simply enough to make important points from time to time. Augustine Rubit in particular turns up the heat and is now the top scorer of the game with 22 points.

32

19:21

It really hurts! The Wolves defended well again and got hold of the ball and then Kerusch blocked up on the fast break! Of course, Munich won’t go unpunished and Rubit nets from half-distance.

31

19:20

Beginning of 4th quarter

30

19:20

Quarter conclusion:
The Central German BC strikes back strongly in the second half and fights back. Mainly thanks to a better defensive performance and more speed in attack, the home side are within striking distance again. With a little more luck in the last few deals, it would have been even tighter here. So the FCBB takes a 62:47 into the final ten minutes.

30

19:17

Bryant can make the deficit back into single digits, but puts his three from the pear on the edge. In return, Jaramaz pushes in his three from the move and things are already looking much better for the FCBB.

29

19:13

Club icon Sergio Kerusch is now on it for the first time and immediately brings the MBC up to eleven points with a lay-up. Who would have thought that things would actually get this exciting again?

27

19:12

Suddenly Charles Callison is there too and finally hits his first threesome! The hall rages, but only briefly, because Niels Giffey has the perfect answer ready.

26

19:10

Slowly but surely, Bayern are awakening, at least offensively, but still concede points with almost every Weißenfels attack. Top scorer Augustine Rubit keeps the lead at least halfway comfortably.

24

19:07

After almost four minutes, Augustine Rubit finally cleared the first points for the FCBB. But the MBC is still the better team and extends the run to 10:2.

23

19:05

After another ball loss from Munich, Kris Clyburn heaves the MBC to a 6-0 run with a crashing dunk. Andrea Trinchieri immediately pulls the emergency brake and gets really loud in the following time-out. His team completely overslept the start of the second half.

22

19:02

The MBC starts quite properly. Mushidi scored the first points of the second half with a heavy hook throw over Rubit and in the following defensive sequence the wolves put a lot of pressure and won the ball.

21

18:59

Go on! Both teams start with the same five as in the first round.

21

18:59

Beginning of 3rd quarter

20

18:48

Mid-term conclusion:
Despite the tense personnel situation in Weißenfels, FC Bayern turned up the heat in the second quarter and won the section 27:9. The guests take a clear 47:26 lead into the dressing room. Despite various failures and the short recovery time after the EuroLeague game on Friday, the Trinchieri squad is fully there and repeatedly shows their individual quality. MBC had held up well in the first ten minutes, but when Bayern shifted up a gear on defense, the offensive side of the Wolves was almost dead. Eight turnovers haven’t been good for the hosts’ game either, and the two newcomers Ballock and Callison aren’t a factor at all. Let’s continue with the second half in the wolf’s den!

20

18:42

41 seconds before the break, Andrea Trinchieri wasted his time out. The FCBB coach can be very satisfied with his team, which brought an amazing amount of energy to the floor two days after the EuroLeague fight against Piraeus.

19

18:38

Newcomer Charles Callison wants to take on responsibility but hasn’t been able to do anything so far. The 28-year-old has zero out of five from the field and two turnovers.

18

18:36

At the MBC, hardly anything goes together. The hosts are no longer able to get any decent shots at all and miss one difficult finish after the other. Then Kris Clyburn makes a technical mistake and Bayern score again from downtown.

16

18:34

The Central German BC has scored a total of three points in the second section so far. No wonder Igor Jovović already has his next time out pulls. If the wolves don’t improve in all areas soon, Bayern will be out of reach early on.

16

18:32

Rubit time! Munich’s US forward first chases the next three for the guests through the trap and then passes John Bryant at such a high speed that he can only stop him with a foul. Rubits lay-up still falls in.

15

18:30

Speaking of double digits: At MBC, Kostja Mushidi in particular holds back, who was the first player to score double digits after his successful throw from the pear.

14

18:29

Even the break doesn’t help the home side! Instead, Bayern impressively follow suit. First Weiler-Babb sinks the next three, then Lučić lets it rip after Giffey’s alley-oop. The lead is in double digits for the first time.

13.

18:26

That’s too easy! Nick Weiler-Babb carries the ball forward and with a single pass to the opposite side finds the completely free Niels Giffey, pouring the hosts the next three-pointer. Igor Jovović reacts immediately and asks time out.

12.

18:25

The two newcomers Mitchell Ballock and Charles Callison weren’t able to add much to the MBC game in their first few minutes. But that was certainly not to be expected. After almost two minutes without counting, Othello Hunter scored the first points from the free-throw line.

11.

18:21

Beginning of 2nd quarter

10

18:21

Quarter conclusion:
The last points of the first quarter go to John Bryant, who brings his MBC up to 17:20. So far it’s the expected game for long stretches. The Bavarians rely on speed in a formation that will probably not play together again and want easy points and throws from outside. Weißenfels countered this with high intensity and tried again and again to get into the zone via Breunig and Bryant.

10

18:18

Of course Bayern don’t need foul problems with their decimated squad. Especially not in the guard positions. But Ognjen Jaramaz already has two personal offenses on the clock and makes room for the young Luis Wulff.

9.

18:16

Weißenfels has been holding up well so far with a lot of effort and fights for one or the other free ball under the frenetic applause of the audience. Bayern, on the other hand, are a bit slack and can’t find any good throws. Now Lučić is still out of bounds when receiving a pass and gives the ball back.

8th.

18:13

For the home side, John Bryant is now on the floor for the first time. The US center played for Munich from 2013 to 2016 and thus meets his former club. But Kostja Mushidi scored the next points with a wild threesome from the parking lot, which led to 15:15.

7.

18:12

Everything is a bit different at Bayern today. Andreas Obst is currently bringing the ball again and again because all the other players are either absent or are currently on a break. On the other hand, things are going quite well at the FCBB, which is fully operational.

5.

18:08

The best scorer in red so far is actually newcomer Niels Giffey, who takes on a lot of responsibility in the early stages. After four quick points from Gillespie and Rubit, Munich is five points away for the first time.

4.

18:07

It goes back and forth at high speed in the first few minutes. While Bayern always find free shots outside with extra passes, almost every ball goes under the basket at MBC. Although Freddie Gillespie clears a lot there, he cannot stop every attack.

3.

18:04

Niels Giffey’s first three in the Bayern jersey is too short and MBC could take the lead for the first time, but Breunig only hits the ring from half-distance.

1.

18:02

Both teams start successfully. Munich immediately plays a play for Andreas Obst, who hits the three from the pear right away. Weißenfels puts the ball under the basket in return, where Martin Breunig holds his own against Freddie Gillespie.

18:01

Bayern coach Trinchieri has to improvise today. With Paul Zipser, Corey Walden, Jan Wimberg, Elias Harris, Jason George and Cassius Winston out. Nick Weiler-Babb, Niels Giffey, Andreas Obst, Augustine Rubit and Freddie Gillespie start. The MBC starts with Mário Ihring, Kris Clyburn, Kostja Mushidi, Tremmell Darden and Martin Breunig.

17:46

After four competitive wins in a row – two each in the BBL and the EuroLeague – Bayern had to accept a defeat again. On Thursday, the FCBB lost 71:82 at home to Olympiacos Piraeus. In the league, however, the Trinchieri squad is on target after five wins from six games and wants to continue to establish itself at the top. Less than 48 hours after the Piraeus game, it will be a question of strength for the guests, especially since some regular players will be absent during the week due to a flu epidemic. After all, there is also a new face at the Munich team. Ex-Alba forward Niels Giffey celebrated the BBL premiere in the red dress today.

17:39

So far, not too much has come together at the MBC this season. The wolves could only win one win from five games. The defense is the main concern. The team has already twice allowed more than 100 points, most recently with a clear 102:119 in Crailsheim. The new signings Charles Callison and Mitchell Ballock, who are making their debut for the MBC today, should make things better. “We are aware of our situation and know that we have to perform better than we did last time and deliver victories,” said coach Igor Jovović, adding: “A top European team like FC Bayern obviously comes at an inopportune time. But we will physically counteract it and present ourselves in the best possible way.”

17:33

Hello and welcome to the BBL on Saturday evening! Mitteldeutsche BC hosts FC Bayern on the seventh day of the game. It starts at 6 p.m. in the Weißenfels town hall!
