Games in January and February
The round of 16 of the 2022/23 DFB Cup was drawn on Sunday evening. Among other things, defending champion RB Leipzig will face TSG Hoffenheim on January 31, February 1, 7 or 8. FC Bayern meets Mainz 05 away, Borussia Dortmund has to play a neighborhood duel at VfL Bochum. The draw was made live on “ARD” by striker Maria Asnaimer, who scored 101 goals in the league and cup for the Westphalian district league team TuS Germania Lohauserholz-Daberg last season.
Unlike rounds 1 and 2, there was only one draw. One looks in vain for lower-class clubs in the round of 16. In addition to eleven Bundesliga clubs, five second division clubs are also represented. The final of the DFB Cup will take place on June 3, 2023 in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
