UTAMA – THE FORGOTTEN LANDS
Genre: dramatic ✦✦✦
Direction: Alejandro Loayza Grisi. With José Calcina, Luisa Quispe, Placide Ali, Félix Ticona

Climate change is not a theoretical problem but an existential question in the Bolivian director’s debut film. In Colcha Ka, at 4200 meters, lives an elderly Quechua couple, Virginio and Sisa (husband and wife in life), in the company of a small herd of llamas.

But the pasture is increasingly distant and aridthe source of the village has stopped offering water and the grandson arrives from the city who, lovingly, tries to persuade his grandparents to leave that land that has now become inhospitable.

From the Sundance Film Festivalthe touching account, imbued with magical realism, of how the alliance between man and nature has been broken forever.
