Break in Duisburg, the guests from Osnabrück lead 2-1. After just eight minutes, Klaas took the lead for the VFL, but the MSV quickly hit back with their captain. An entertaining party developed as a result, with offensive scenes on both sides. Especially on the left, the VFL became dangerous again and again and so did the renewed lead for the VFL through Simakala. The game was then characterized by a lot of nicks and fouls, so that there was hardly any flow of the game.

With regard to the racist remarks, the public prosecutor’s office announced in January that the investigation had been discontinued because sufficient suspicion could not be established. The stadium ban against the alleged perpetrator issued by MSV was also withdrawn. Let’s all just hope that the sporting aspect alone will be the focus today!

The game between these two teams is marked by special signs: On December 19 last year, the game was first interrupted when the score was 0-0 and then stopped after Aaron Opoku from Osnabrück was allegedly racially insulted by a spectator. After this incident, the guests from Lower Saxony were no longer able to continue playing. The MSV also immediately showed solidarity and condemned what happened in the strongest possible terms. The DFB finally decided to schedule a replay.
