Bayern loan
At least 25 games were the goal of Bayern Munich’s loanee Sarpreet Singh this season at SSV Jahn Regensburg. But there are already only 17 left, because the offensive power is not allowed to play until next year. Now the 23-year-old spoke about the disappointment after his temporary employer apparently simply forgot to register him for the first half of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga.
“I’m obviously incredibly disappointed,” Singh told the newspaper. The time“, according to which the New Zealander still seemed stunned. Jahn’s faux pas was not noticed until late, because Singh was still suffering from a pubic bone infection at the start of the season. When it could have worked again, the player was “frustrated and sad”. Singh said: “I was just getting to the point where I was fit and able to play; That’s probably why it was so hard to accept.”

Singh’s injury had previously meant the All Whites’ junior international couldn’t have proved himself a notch higher. Bundesliga club Werder Bremen emerged as an interested party. There was also an agreement on a permanent transfer until the expected downtime caused the green-whites to rethink. Regensburg accepted the indisposition, but still cannot rely on Singh. Based on his fitness level, he could have been an option for the last away game in Magdeburg. Yet the sufferer shows no resentment. Singh is “very satisfied with how I was received here”, he appreciates the club and emphasized: “Everything happens for a reason.”
Singh: Question about transfer glitch ‘can only be answered by one person’
Regensburg had confirmed at the end of September that they would have to do without Singh in the current first half of the season because of an “untimely notification of the loan transfer”. The “Central Bavarian newspaper“ had connected the glitch with the departure of sports director Roger Stilz. Der Jahn explained that Stilz himself had asked for his engagement to end for personal reasons.
Singh learned of the bitter incident when he was invited to a meeting with coach Mersad Selimbegović, finance and HR manager Simon Leser and managing director Philipp Hausner. How it all happened “probably only one person can answer,” Singh said.
Coach Selimbegović stated afterwards: “Of course that was a heavy blow for us too, which we first had to cope with together with Sarpreet. But we are now looking ahead and will make the best of the situation in close cooperation with Sarpreet.” The absence of the offensive man is extremely inconvenient for the club because the loan player is not a reliable scorer. Singh has managed six goals and nine assists in 27 games for Jahn. His contract with FC Bayern is valid until 2024. A final move away from Munich could be an issue again next summer. Until then, Singh still has half a series to present himself at Jahn from next year.
