Russia is to blame for the growing tension in the situation around Ukraine, despite its own statements of concern, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said during a briefing, comparing Moscow’s actions to the behavior of a fox in a chicken coop. Broadcast was conducted on Twitter.
Psaki pointed out that Russia is acting like a fox on the roof of a chicken coop who talks about her fear of chickens. “And when you see that the President [России Владимир] Putin screams fear of Ukraine and Ukrainians, this should not be interpreted as a declaration of fact. We know who the fox is in this case. We’ve seen a troop buildup on the border,” a White House spokeswoman said (quote by The Guardian).
She also called Moscow an “aggressor” that has concentrated 100,000 troops near the border with Ukraine, which makes it impossible to compare the positions of Russia and the United States in the current crisis. According to her, Washington, together with NATO allies, is working to improve their security, since the alliance is a defensive bloc. “It’s not the same thing,” she concluded.

About a month ago, on January 6, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said a similar phrase during a press conference with German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock. He said both countries condemn Moscow’s build-up of military forces near the borders with Ukraine and Russia’s “false claims” that Kiev is trying to provoke Moscow, transmitted agency Associated Press.
