As of October 17, Coevorden will receive fifty asylum seekers in the former Rabobank building in the city center. The intention is that this crisis emergency shelter will close again from mid-January.
The municipality will prepare the building opposite the town hall in the next two weeks for the arrival of the first asylum seekers. Residents and entrepreneurs in the city center received a letter today about the state of affairs.
The twelve Drenthe municipalities were given the task of contributing to the reception of asylum seekers via the Drenthe Safety Region. Several municipalities have already complied with this. For example, a second asylum boat will be installed in Meppel to relieve the pressure on the application center in Ter Apel.
