Arsenal clearly won the north London derby against Tottenham and maintained their lead in the Premier League.

The Gunners won the prestige duel against their local rivals 3-1 at the start of the 9th matchday on Saturday (October 1st, 2022) and thus remain at the top of the Premier League table.

Emerson Royal flies, Xhaka with the decision

After the change of sides, everything went well for the Gunners: Gabriel Jesus (49th) got the lead again and took advantage of a mistake by Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris. Tottenham weakened themselves on the hour when Emerson Royal was sent off with a straight red after kicking Gabriel Martinelli. Granit Xhaka made the decision five minutes later. Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale waved into the guest corner just before the end and said goodbye to the few remaining Spurs fans.
