The NBA club Detroit Pistons has reached an agreement with the Utah Jazz about a player exchange, reports the American ESPN.
The Jazz trade the 33-year-old Croatian by Bojan Bogdanović To the Pistons and get in return Kelly Olyny too mixed Saben Lee. Sources believe that there are no bookings tied to the deal.
Bognanović’s departure from the Jazz will immediately affect the team’s hopes for success next season. The experienced corner was valuable, especially behind the three-point line. Last season, he made 38 percent of his three-pointers and averaged 18.1 points. The point averages of 23-year-old Lee and 31-year-old center Olynyk were both less than ten.
A big name in Finnish basketball Lauri Markkanen transferred to Jazz in the middle of the EC tournament that ended last week. Trading the Croatian star for clearly weaker pieces gives indications that the team is not looking for great success in the NBA next season, but is focusing on rebuilding. This, in turn, could mean a bigger role for Markkanen in the upcoming season, and when everything falls into place, the Finn will become the Jazz’s driving force.
The NBA season starts in October. Practice games start next week.
