NAC Breda convincingly won 3-1 against Jong FC Utrecht on Friday evening. Willem II had a much harder time at home against Jong AZ. It managed to prevent a loss of points in the final phase. Most goals in the Kitchen Champion Division were scored by FC Eindhoven, even though it had to share the points with Roda JC.
NAC Breda – Young FC Utrecht 3-1
Despite a strong start, it looked as if NAC Breda was going to choke on Jong FC Utrecht on Friday evening. After seven minutes, Albert Lottin scored with the head after a corner. The team from Breda quickly put things in order, because it kept on attacking. Boyd Lucassen equalized. Then NAC collapsed a bit. After the break, Robert Molenaar’s team went up a gear and in less than three minutes the three points were in the bag. Bod Lucassen made his second in minute 56 and two minutes later Odysseus Velanas put the final score on the board.
Willem II – Young AZ 1-0
It was all a lot more difficult for Willem II during the seventh round in the Kitchen Champion Division. Young AZ came to visit and for a long time it seemed that the Tilburgers were again going to spill points against a promise team. It didn’t seem that way at the start of the game. Willem II attacked fully, but did not score. That gave Jong AZ more confidence, but in the end Willem II captain Pol Llonch managed to score the 1-0 nine minutes before the end.
VVV – Young PSV 1-1
During a turbulent evening for PSV due to the surprising departure of technical director John de Jong, things didn’t go much better on the field. After only five minutes, the Eindhoven promises were already behind. Five minutes before the end, Jong PSV managed to limit the damage. Simon Colyn put the 1-1 on the board, so that Adil Ramzi’s team took home a point.
FC Eindhoven – Roda JC 3-3
Goals rained down on the Aalsterweg in Eindhoven. FC Eindhoven could even have taken the lead, but did not. A 3-1 lead thanks to goals from Mawouna Amevor, Evan Rottier and Ozan Can Kökçu, was discarded by the Blues in the final phase. Two minutes before time, Roda JC made the connecting goal. Three minutes into stoppage time it got even worse and the Limburgers made it 3-3, which meant that FC Eindhoven had to share the points.
Helmond Sport – FC Dordrecht 2-1
Anyone who had said at halftime that Helmond Sport would beat FC Dordrecht would probably have gotten a skewed look. The Helmonders made a mess of it against the goal. In the back, just about everything that could go wrong went wrong. As a result, Aliou Baldé managed to score after 33 minutes. What was discussed in the locker room at halftime is not clear, but it worked. Because after two minutes in the second half, Peter van Ooijen equalized. Five minutes later, Martijn Kaars put the 2-1 on the board after a beautiful through ball. After a red card for goalscorer Aliou Baldé, the victory for Helmond Sport was no longer in danger.
