Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic and TV expert and BVB consultant Matthias Sammer exchanged verbal blows about FC Bayern’s 2-0 (0-0) win against FC Barcelona in the Champions League.
Even in the recent 2-0 win in the Champions League against FC Barcelona, coach Julian Nagelsmann rebuilt a few positions in FC Bayern’s line-up.
The former Munich sports director and current BVB consultant Matthias Sammer questioned the permanent rotation and also criticized Hasan Salihamidzic for his statements.
“Of course, it’s ultimately the same for FC Bayern Munich in terms of the performance principle: there is rotation and there is always the moment when the coach decides who will be selected. And that’s when you have to march,” warned the 55-year-old “Amazon Prime Video” before too many changes.
Salihamidzic had backed Nagelsmann’s rotation tactics at the weekend and emphasized that this was necessary to prevent players from becoming unhappy. “I prefer that we sometimes play a draw than that we have dissatisfied players,” the ex-professional made clear in the “double pass” on “Sport1”.
FC Bayern: Matthias Sammer criticized – Hasan Salihamidzic reacted
Sammer, however, considers this statement to be fatal. They send a completely wrong picture to the players.
“In a club like Bayern Munich you have to try to win every game. It’s clear that that’s not possible. But in terms of content, I wouldn’t have made that statement,” reproached the former BVB professional, who is now an advisor to the Dortmund management level functions.
Salihamidzic, in turn, responded to Sammer’s criticism after the game. He explained to journalists that he felt misunderstood: “You all know how the squad is with us. We have 19, 20 very, very good players. If you’re there as a coach, you can field anyone.”
“It’s not that we don’t want to win – on the contrary,” added Salihamidzic.
