On the Magny-Cours circuit Alvaro Bautista wins an important championship victory in race 1, taking advantage of the crashes of Jonathan Rea and Toprak Razgatlioglu which took place immediately after the start of the second lap. Seventh success of the season for the Spaniard from Ducati, twenty-fourth in his career, who soloed Scott Redding, second, and Axel Bassani on the podium with the independent Panigale V4 R. Bad adventure for the six-time Kawasaki world champion who returns to the pits to fix the bike and gets back on track, lapped, in twenty-fourth place. Stoico Rea, who ends the race with a broken windshield. Same fate for the reigning world champion Toprak Razgatlioglu who loses control of his R1 in turn 13, but climbs up the slope from the rear, closing, however, in eleventh place. Box number four for Alex Lowes in front of the independent Yamaha of the American Garrett Gerloff, the Ducati of Michael Ruben Rinaldi and the Yamaha of Andrea Locatelli. Eighth was the German Philipp Oettl, also on Ducati, ninth the Honda of the Spanish Iker Lecuona. The French Lucas Mahias closes the top ten. Twenty-one laps in race 1. Jonathan Rea, author of the pole, with a time of 1’36 “124, Toprak Razgatlioglu and Scott Redding, fourth Alvaro Bautista start from the front row. Razgatlioglu sprints well ahead of Redding, Rea and Bautista. the Turkish of Yamaha who gives the lead of the race to the British of the BMW, always third Rea followed by Bautista.
