Female Karting Talents Wanted for Motorsport Games

The National Motorsport Federation is looking for female karting talents with the FIA Motorsport Games approaching. The Motorsport Games are seen as the ‘Olympic Games of motorsport’ and the federation is eager to send a woman to defend the title in the karting slalom section. At the previous edition of the event, in 2019, the Netherlands captured gold with Nina Pothof and Bastiaan van Loenen.

Some rush is required, as the event will take place from October 26 to 30 in Marseille, France. That is why the umbrella kart and motorsport association is organizing a selection day at Kartcentrum Zwolle on 15 September. Women between the ages of 14 and 16 who are good at karting are invited to participate in the selection day. The participants are judged on their times, presentation, dealing with the media and condition. The rider with the fastest time and the best rating wins.

“The Netherlands is currently in the spotlight with successful drivers such as Max Verstappen and Richard Verschoor, who have both moved on to motorsport after a successful kart career. More and more girls are also infected with the ‘kart virus’,” says Roman Caresani, chairman of the National Federation. “We are looking for those talented girls to represent the Netherlands at the FIA Motorsport Games. We are curious who drives themselves ‘in the picture’ during the selection day.”

At the end of the day, the federation will announce the entire Dutch delegation for the FIA Motorsport Games – including the new female talent. The winner will not only receive a ticket for participation, but will also be trained to become a licensed driver.
